Runescape. It’s a love-hate relationship.
I played Runescape a long time ago. And when i say played, i mean lived on. This game is addicting. And when i say addicting, i mean you will not want to stop playing it. EVER.
Runescape is a pretty huge MMORPG made by Jagex. You have the choice to do anything you want (depending if you pay monthly or not), from mining to player killing; however some of this is not enjoyable and feels forced.
There is dangers to playing Runescape:
1) None of your friends will think you’re cool anymore.
2) You will have trouble stopping playing
3) All sense of reality will fly out the window. Unless you play in a room with no windows. Then you really need help.
The skills you can train vary from combat skills to random skils such as ‘summoning’. Levelling up these skills is acceptable at the start of the game. However as you progress levelling up takes longer and longer, and gets more tedious. This is when you slowly start to lose your grip on reality (don’t worry, some people play this in moderation, however some people need this game like water). I don’t know about you, but after playing this game i would much rather go mining in real life than mine on this game.
PvP is insanely intense. Maybe. Timed hits and no special moves really adds to the intensity, as well as all the other players telling you you’re a noob. Pretty sweet system. On top of that, you get some pretty awesome lag, but i think that’s because of the top level graphics. Sometimes i had to tell myself it wasn’t real life. Involving stuff.
The problem with Runescape is the fact it has to real completion point. This is what reels people in, and then spits them out 2 years later with nothing to show for it. Pretty tough. You can break your back getting a high skill; then… oh no that’s about it.
If you love games where you can sink 200 hours in and get no real return, get in there right now. Runescape has no-life written all over it.
The best thing is though, at least everyone else that plays it is in the same situation.
If this review ever makes you play Runescape, i doubt i will ever see you again.
