My first review of a game on Android. Be nice.
Word Crank. The aim of the game: Crank out some words from that brain of yours.
This game is a confused version of Tetris and scrabble. You cannot let letters pile up above the top of the screen else you lose; however there is a way to get rid of them. Use that brain to link letters and create real words. Not made up words when you get really desperate.
At the start of the game letters drop down from the top of the screen, which lulls you into a false sense of security; after realising half the letters you have available are all the useless letters of the alphabet, such as Z or X. However these awkward letters are set on fire (obviously the designer hates them too), so when you do use them (good luck), they destroy extra letters which gives you more space for more letters.
As the levels progress, the length of the letters you are allowed to spell increases (level 1 – 3 letters; level 2 – 4 letters etc). This gives you more spelling options in the later levels as the speed starts to increase, however if you’re anything like me, 3 letter words are the winner in my book.
Letters. This word is starting to lose all meaning. This goes hand in hand with the game, as you will slowly start to panic and attempt to spell the same word over and over again in a desperate attempt to lesson the piles of letters towering over you. Towards end levels you get suprisingly frantic and your brain goes into overdrive looking for words you didn’t even know existed. Pretty good if you want to expand your vocabulary, pretty bad if you know a lot of simple 3 letter words.
This is one of my slight niggles with this game. At certain levels you can only spell certain length words. Pretty annoying. Especially when you can see a HUGE word made up of at least 100 letters just waiting to be punched in; however you cannot. You have to make do with that 3-letter powerhouse ‘dog’ or ‘bad’. Also pretty annoying if you’re a genius at games like this, as you cannot spell to your hearts content, because you’re just too pro.
If you feel like you want a game to widen your 3-4-5 letter vocabulary, this game is perfect for you. However if you’re looking for a word game with more freedom and versatility, you may want to think twice before getting this game.
WARNING: Over playing this game can cause a loss of spare brain space; taken up by an insane amount of small-word spelling combinations. Not for the slow. Therefore i for one, will not be getting this game. However i do reccommend it to anyone with a word game addiction.
Original game; lack luster in its delivery and game rules.
